I can't imagine what makes silver z coins sell for 1.5k or so? What are people using them for?

Heavy packs / Envoy weapons.

This would be the main reason people now want these coins, although i'm sure they are used for other things too. (Like Tomes, Equipment packs, etc.)

Except when you find out that almost no one sells gold Zcoins any more... when I was buying zcoins for my sword, half of the bought ones (a large part of them was actually earned) would be bought as silver simply because there was no one selling gold ones directly.

P.S. what I bought for zcoins: 10 heavy equipment packs, 1 Envoy sword, a few Zkeys.

Well seeing as how the only character i really play is my Mesmer. Most of my play is PvP but he's a PvE character, i got him a heavy eq pack, and have been selling all my coins since, easy 150-200k on RA quest days, substantially more for GvG days(counting strongboxes and keys for balth faction)
